Search for Account

To start a search for an account the user can either

  1. Select the Search for Account tab on the Account Search/Manual Setup quick access bar on the Home page. The CACS Enterprise Browser expands the quick access bar to display search fields.
  2. Select the Search for Account option on the Navigation menu. The CACS Enterprise Browser displays the Search for Account view with search fields.

The user can search based on any of the following:  Name, Account Number, Telephone Number, SSN/Tax ID, or Custom Data Segment type.

To initiate a search by name, the user enters the customer’s last name in the Name field .  The user also has the option of entering up to two other forms of management-defined search criteria (e.g., postal code, product type) in the Search Key 1 and Search Key 2 fields to further refine the results of the search.  Partial values can be entered in any of the search arguments, and the search process will attempt to match only the characters entered.

To initiate a search by account number, the user enters the customer’s account number in the Account Number field.  Partial account numbers are not allowed--the Account Number search looks for exact matches on both the active and inactive database.  For example, if a user enters “12345,” the CACS Enterprise Browser returns information on Account Number 12345; the CACS Enterprise Browser does not return information on account number “123458”, etc.

To initiate a search by telephone number, the user enters the desired telephone number (or partial number) in the Telephone Number field.  Partial Telephone Numbers are allowed.  For example, if a user enters “305,” the CACS Enterprise Browser returns information on 3055554720, as well as 3056671256 or any other telephone numbers that start with “305”.

To initiate a search by Social Security Number or Tax ID, the user enters the customer’s Social Security Number or Tax ID in the SSN/Tax ID field, without dashes.  Partial Social Security/Tax ID numbers are allowed.  For example, if a user enters “12345,” the CACS Enterprise Browser returns information on 123456789, as well as 123451234, etc.

To initiate a search by Custom Data Segment (CDS) type, the user selects the segment type from the drop down list.  The list of Custom Data Segments presented in the drop down list is limited to the segments to which the user has access, as specified on the User Class table.

To be eligible for searching, the CDS must have a search field defined on the Custom Data Definition table.  A custom data segment may have 0, 1 or 2 search fields.  Segments with no search fields are not presented in the drop down list for user search selection.  If there is one search field for the selected segment, only one search argument is presented for user entry.  If there are two search fields for the selected segment, two search arguments are presented for user entry.  The User may enter search arguments in one or both of the Custom Data search key fields.  At least one search key in conjunction with the Custom Data Segment type must be entered to enable the Go button.  If only one of the Custom Data search keys is entered, only those segments that completely match the entered search argument are returned.  If both search keys are entered, only those segments completely matching both of the search keys are returned.  If the Custom Data Segment type is changed, the Search field labels are redisplayed and the search fields must be re-entered.  The label associated with the search key fields is based on the Custom Data Segment type.  The type of entry field may change depending on the type of data value indicated as a search field.

When the user enters any of the above criteria, the Go push-button is enabled.  If the user needs to change the search criteria prior to selecting the Go push-button, the user can select a different search field and the previously entered values will be cleared.

When the user selects the Go push-button, the CACS Enterprise Browser displays matching accounts in table format below the search fields, regardless of location.  Additionally, the CACS Enterprise Browser indicates  which accounts the user has access to by displaying the account number as a hyperlink.  If there are more accounts available but not displayed, the CACS Enterprise Browser displays the View More Results arrow button.  The user selects the View More Results button to display additional records.  The View More Results button stays enabled unless:

If, upon selecting an account to work, the user is not currently logged into the work location of the accessed account, the CACS Enterprise Browser changes the user’s work location to the location of the requested account.  The CACS Enterprise Browser accesses the account in update mode.  In instances where the user does not have access to the functional area or the account is inactive, the CACS Enterprise Browser displays the account in inquiry mode and notifies the user that he/she does not have access to the functional area or that the account is inactive.

When the user returns to the Home page or the Search for Account view, the previously entered search criteria and results are displayed.  The user makes modifications and selects the Go push-button to display the results for the new search.
